Today we set out to take the Vipingo graduates on a tour of the high school (most of them will be attending in just over a week), shopping and to make there own pizza’s at dominos sounds like a simple normal day right?!? Yeah not so much. The students really enjoyed seeing the high school and getting to see some friends. I have to say it was nice getting to see our friends that had graduate last year and are now form 2 students (they call the different classes “form” not freshman and so on.) After that we were off to City Mall! The students didn’t know that due to there performance on there KCPE (the test they have to pass to get into high school) exam we were going to reword them for getting a higher score then last years class’s they were getting a little spending money to spend on something nice for themselves.
We broke up into small groups and then some went shopping and some started making pizza. I had the chance of making pizzas with the kids last year so I thought I knew what I was into….thought…. my group started out shopping. We went to a store called Nakamat its like a Kenya Walmart and we looked and looked at all kinds of stuff. At first I found it funny the things they stopped to look at like skewers for barbecuing, muffin pans and Barbie dolls but then when I handed them a shopping basket they didn’t fill it will all the things they were looking at. They filled it with rice, beans, maze, yogurt, pens, paper and female stuff. I stoped to make sure they understood that this was for them, this was something special for all the hard work they put into preparing for the KCPE and getting in to high school. There exams were lower then last years class but they were determined to bet the first class and then they did! They said we know this is what we want, good food for our family. Wow that hit me hard. I am really proud of them and how God is already using them to bless there family.
We were then called to go make pizzas and that was a blast, the photos will show you a lot about that and how fun it was. After a little pizza…they only ate one pice because they wanted to go look around the mall more so off we went!
This has to be the hi-light so far!
First we went to the escalators and run them up to the second floor but two of my girls had never been on an escalator before and I thought one of them wasn’t gonna make it till we got to the top! We got on one step apart and she ended on top of me on my step I thought I was gonna be holding her in my lap!! For real! The next thing we did was head to the bathroom. You have to remember that these kids are used to going to the bathroom over a hole in the ground. So when we got to the door they just stopped and stood there and I said oh we’re going in this one and I walk through the girls door and then all of a sudden I turned around to make sure they were behind me and one of the girls had gone in to the men’s side so I quick grabbed her out and said these aren’t like the normal toilets you’re used to there’s more than one toilet in here. So we proceeded in and I had to show them how to use the toilet and then also washing their hands and where the soap was. They had an air dryer in there and one of my girls was so scared of it she wouldn’t even put her hands under it. She tried a few times and just couldn’t. It was so cute! Then off we want to continue our adventure wandering through a bunch of different shops and then asking a lot of questions about how things work or what things were for. It was a lot of fun!
It’s such an amazing experience I can’t fully explain, it’s something you have to experience for your self some time.

Everyone wants to know Grandpas secret to staying young and strong! He has made a lot of friends.
Dan, this one is for you!
