A Note from Tiffy

Today was my first full day in the Kenyan community. We spent the morning at the school in Vipingo, then ate lunch at the pastor’s house, and ended with a few more hours well-spent at the academy in Bomani. This morning, Ben asked me what my biggest take away from the trip was so far, and I told him it was the chance to see the amazing work that God is doing through Fox River. But since then my answer has changed a little. I’m still awed by the outreach of the ministry, but now perhaps with more of a focus on the lives that the ministry touches: the Kenyan people themselves. They give and sacrifice every bit as much as we do, even more so because they have less to give. Yet, their smiles are contagious, and their grateful giving back to God and their communities can’t be ignored. They’re just as much a part of this ministry as we are, because when we head home, it will be the Christian brothers and sisters we leave behind that keep the work going. The pastors. The teachers. The workers at the rescue center. Each of them finds complete fulfillment in investing time and love into the lives around them, and that investment shows on the faces of all the children that I came into contact with today. The work the Christians of Kenya are doing in their own country is fantastic, and I’m grateful to both God and Fox River for the chance to be a small part of it. 🙂
